Oscar E. ‘Sam’ Myerscough
Graveside service for Oscar E. “Sam” Myerscough, 85, Carrollton, are at 11
a.m., Aug. 21, 2006, at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Sylacauga, Ala.
The Rev. Dr. Larry Morris will officiate.
Mr. Myerscough died Aug. 19 at Sansing Country Home Inc.
Born in Lebanon County, Ill., he was a son of the late O.E. and Emma Myerscough.
He was a World War II veteran serving with the Eighth Army Air Corps stationed
in England, where he was a B-17 pilot.
He was retired from the Federal Office of Emergency Management.
He received a special commendation from the president of the United States for
his service during the Cuban missile crisis.
He was a longtime and active member of the First Baptist Church and Kiwanis Club
of Thomasville.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Cleonelle Powell Myerscough of
Carrollton; daughters and son-in-law, Susan and Robert L. Rumsey of Sylacauga,
Beth Myerscough of Fankfort, Ky.; grandchildren, Ashley Rumsey Throckmorton and
her husband, Nate, Robert L. Rumsey IV and his wife, Bonnie, Ryan Rumsey, Regan
Rumsey, Katie Lewis, Sam Powell Lewis; and great-grandson, Denver Rumsey. —
